Rafa Benitez expecting to sign winger for Newcastle this January

New players for Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez thinks new players will be coming in this summer.

The Chronicle think a winger is incoming, with Benitez making it very clear he needs to bring in a forward.

Benitez spoke after their latest game and said: “It was clear. We have been working on that in different positions, not just the striker.

“We have to be more precise in the final third to make sure that the striker has more chances, or more clear chances.”

The club are desperate for goals, and that could be the reason they end up in serious relegation battle.

The club are currently sitting in 15th, and are on 17 points.

The magic number is usually 40 points, meaning at the Christmas stage, Newcastle will want to amass as many points as they can while the games come thick and fast.

Giving themselves the best possible chance is key – and the transfer window could be vital in that.

A relegation fight

Newcastle manager Benitez is under no illusions that his side are in a relegation fight.

He noted it would be a ‘miracle’ if his side survived the drop.

The Magpies know that staying in the Premier League would be huge for them.

However, it’s going to be a tough fight.

Benitez knows that, and a possible sale of the club could also change things.

As could any money Mike Ashley gives to the club in the winter transfer window.
