Newcastle hosted Wolves in the only Premier League game on Sunday.

Newcastle started the day in 14th place and on a decent run of form after an awful start to the season.

A win for Newcastle vs Wolves would have seen them move up to 14th place above Cardiff.

As for Wolves, they will have been full of confidence heading into Sunday’s game after they beat Chelsea 2-1 earlier in the week.

Wolves started the day in 13th place. But a win vs Newcastle could have seen them move up to 10th place.

Fernandez injury blow

The game got off to a good start for Wolves as the inform Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the 17th minute thanks to a great ball from Helder Costa.

However, Newcastle would find a reply just six minutes later as Ayoze Perez made it 1-1 in the 23rd minute.

Newcastle would then go down to 10 men in the 57th minute as DeAndre Yedlin would be shown a straight red card.

The Magpies also received another big blow during the Wolves game.

Federico Fernandez was replaced at half-time by Javier Manquillo. It was later revealed that the defender had suffered a calf injury.

Newcastle’s next game is an important clash with Huddersfield on December 15th and Newcastle look likely to be without two of their main defenders for it.
