As per a growing number of reports in the English media, Newcastle United are ready to make an offer to PSG, to bring winger Hatem Ben Arfa back to the club.
Ben Arfa, now 30, has spent his career attempting to live up to his massive potential, but has, to this point, struggled to do so on a consistent basis.
The 15-time capped French international started out his career with Lyon, and was part of the side who won 4 straight French top-flight titles, before making the move to rivals Marseille.
Despite often struggling with injury and having his attitude called into question, the gifted winger continued to showcase his dazzling talents at the Stade Velodrome, before a loan move to St. James’ Park in 2011 was made permanent by Newcastle a year later.
Scorer of extraordinary goals
And it didn’t take Ben Arfa long to prove to fans of the Magpies just what he was all about, as the fleet-footed wide-man went on to notch some of the finest individual goals in the history of the Premier League.
However, Ben Arfa’s injury problems remained prevalent throughout his spell in England, and a broken leg, along with multiple hamstring problems, kept the Frenchman on the sidelines for months at a time.
After a loan spell with Hull City in 2014, he returned to Ligue 1 in 2015 with Nice, where Ben Arfa enjoyed a career renaissance.
His return of 17 goals and 6 assists in the league led to yet another move last summer, with the flying wide-man making the switch to the Parc des Princes with PSG.
However, he has majorly struggled for gametime with the capital outfit, and was directly involved in just a solitary league goal for Unai Emery’s men last season.
And, as per the aforementioned reports in England today, Newcastle are now considering taking another chance on their former fan favourite, with the Magpies ready to make a move for Ben Arfa in January.
