Newcastle, Brighton & RLC
It’s a helluva busy day for Chelsea in the transfer market.
At the same time, Dom Solanke has joined Liverpool, Tammy Abraham has gone to Swansea on loan, Nathaniel Chalobah could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge to join Watford, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is heading for the Blues exit door too.
The Times on Thursday reveal that RLC has “attracted interest from Newcastle United and Brighton.”
What’s the story?
Like so many of his Chelsea peers, 21-year-old Loftus-Cheek has failed to break into the Blues first team to any great level.
Last season he only played 31 Premier League minutes in six sub appearances, while he only appeared in 11 matches in all competitions.
RLC is under contract until 2021, but with little hope of establishing as a starter for Antonio Conte the midfielder could leave west London this summer.
Both Newcastle and Brighton would offer the young Englishman the chance to shine in the Premier League.
It’s unclear whether he’d move to either St James’ Park or the AmEx Arena in a permanent or in a loan move.
So far Brighton have signed Pascal Gross, Josh Kerr and Mathew Ryan this summer.
As for Newcastle, they’ve signed Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune.
