Cardiff vs Southampton
Cardiff host Southampton this weekend in what could be a very important game in this season’s relegation battle.
Cardiff are currently 16th in the league and have won two of their last five league games. Both of which were home games vs Wolves and Brighton.
Despite an upsurge in form, Cardiff are still just two points above the relegation zone.
As for Southampton, they are in the relegation zone and two points below Cardiff.
However, Southampton have won just once all season with their latest game seeing them lose 3-1 vs Tottenham.
The Cardiff clash will, however, be Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first game as Saints boss.
On appointing Hasenhuttl, Southampton’s chairman has this to say:
“Ralph’s enthusiasm for football was contagious and his hunger to take on a new and challenging job in the Premier League was evident.
“In our discussions, he very quickly aligned himself with the values and the vision of the club.”
Cardiff injury update
Ahead of Hasenhuttl’s first game in charge, Neil Warnock has provided an injury update on some of Cardiff’s players.
Gary Madine was an unused sub in Cardiff’s last game but he now looks set to miss out vs Southampton.
Cardiff will also be without Danny Ward and Ken Zohore with the later training just once before Saturday’s game.
“Gary Madine has had a problem, Danny Ward is injured and Ken Zohore has had one day’s training. The striking problems don’t go away, we’ve still got Jazz [Richards] and Ken [Zohore] unavailable.”
