SSC Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj’s agent, Mario Guiffredi, has revealed how the Italian club blocked the player’s move to Chelsea over the summer.
Following the messy departure of Maurizio Sarri from the Naples club, the new Chelsea manager was only able to sign one player from his former club.
Jorginho was the man who joined, in a double deal with Sarri, after the West London club agreed to pay the Italian manager’s release clause
Napoli block Chelsea’s raid attempts
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was unwilling to sell players to Sarri after his move to Chelsea.
The 59-year-old was keen on bringing a number of players with him from his former club.
Napoli reluctantly allowed Jorginho to leave for Stamford Bridge in a bid to get the Blues to pay Sarri’s release clause.
Although, Hysaj’s agent has spoken about a clause which is understood to have blocked Chelsea from signing other players.
Guiffredi told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli:
“Those who criticise him probably never make mistakes, but the rest of us are mere mortals.
“Without that clause he probably would have gone to Chelsea this summer.
“People forget that he was one of the best two or three fullbacks in Europe last season.
“Then it just takes two or three matches for him to become a donkey.
“I always say to let everyone talk and then respond on the pitch.”
