Liverpool vs Newcastle
Liverpool host Newcastle on Boxing day as they look to keep their four-point gap between themselves and Man City.
After beating Wolves on Friday, Liverpool made sure they would head into Christmas top of the Premier League.
The Reds were handed an early Christmas present on Saturday as Man City lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace.
This means even if Liverpool lose vs Newcastle they will remain in top spot.
However, after Newcastle, Liverpool face two tough tests in Arsenal and Man City.
So, Jurgen Klopp will be keen to pick up three points in the easier of the three games.
Newcastle, on the other hand, head into Wednesday’s game 15th in the league.
The Magpies last game saw them draw 0-0 at home to Fulham.
Naby Keita injury update
Heading into a busy festive period, injuries are very common given the number of games played in such a short period.
Liverpool would suffer one on Friday as Naby Keita was taken off in their win over Wolves.
After a slow start at Liverpool Keita is becoming a key member of their midfield and would be a huge miss if he were out for a while.
Luckily, Klopp has confirmed that Keita’s injury was not too serious and he should be fine for Newcastle:
“He [has] a proper cut on [his] foot. Then he had another one on his ribs, so that’s obviously [why] it didn’t work out.
“But it should be good. Two things which are a bit painful but I don’t think will be a problem for him.”
Keita expected to be okay. “He [has] a proper cut on [his] foot. Then he had another one on his ribs, so that’s obviously [why] it didn’t work out. But it should be good. Two things which are a bit painful but I don’t think will be a problem for him.” #LFC
