Jose Mourinho to strip Paul Pogba of Manchester United captaincy

Jose Mourinho has informed Manchester United players that Paul Pogba will not captain the club again, according to ESPN FC.

Mourinho’s relationship with the Frenchman has been increasingly strained over the past few days.

The Portuguese manager is looking to mark his authority over the squad following Pogba’s recent comments.

Jose Mourinho delivered the news that Paul Pogba will not captain Manchester United again on Tuesday.

The former Chelsea boss informed the whole squad at the club’s Carrington training centre.

The move follows Pogba’s comments blaming United’s style for recent poor results.

Pogba said:

“We are at home and we should play much better against Wolves.

“When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. We are here to attack.

“I think teams are scared when they see Man United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake.”

His comments follow on from a string of outburst from the 25-year-old over recent months.

Mourinho has grown tried of Pogba indirectly criticising him and will no longer select him as captain.

Pogba captained the club on six occasions this season in the absence of Antonio Valencia.
