Mourinho says top-four finish with Tottenham would be one of his biggest achievements

Chelsea vs Tottenham

Jose Mourinho is set for a return to one of his former clubs this weekend.

Mourinho’s Tottenham will travel to Chelsea in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.

The tie is hugely important to both sides, as the race for a top-four spot heats up.

Frank Lampard’s outfit start the weekend occupying the desired 4th spot, but there are just three points separating them and 7th placed Manchester United.

Spurs are currently 5th in the table, but in much better league form than the Blues, who have failed to win their last four league outings.

Mourinho on finishing 4th with Tottenham

Jose Mourinho would hold his pre-Chelsea press conference on Friday.

During the presser, the Portuguese tactician made an interesting claim concerning his biggest achievements.

Before taking the reins at Spurs, Mourinho had been in charge of Man United, and his highest league finish with the club was 2nd place.

Mourinho previously claimed that his 2nd place finish with United was amongst his biggest achievements as a manager.

Now, though, when asked on Friday if securing a top-4 berth with Spurs, considering all of their problems, would be a bigger achievement, Mourinho stated:

“In these circumstances, yes.

The Tottenham boss was then asked if that is due to all of the adversity, to which he replied:

“Yes. Stats are what they are and sometimes very silly, especially when people tries to identify what I called the quantitative stats and forget that football is more about qualitative stats. Especially about players’ performances. Sonny and Harry, they score the majority of goals that Tottenham score.”
