Mourinho on Troy Parrott’s potential involvement for Tottenham vs Southampton

Southampton vs Tottenham

Tottenham are set to take on Southampton in an FA Cup 4th round tie on Saturday afternoon.

Find out how to watch the game here.

The north London outfit would see off Championship side Middlesbrough in the previous round, after a replay saw them clinch a 2-1 victory.

As for Southampton, they beat Huddersfield by two goals to nil.

This competition, whilst Spurs probably don’t see it as being as important as qualifying for the Champions League next term, does present perhaps Jose Mourinho’s best chance of garnering silverware with Tottenham this year.

And given the fact that trophies are something the Lilywhites have been seriously deprived of in recent years, the Tottenham faithful will likely be hoping to see a strong squad put out at St Mary’s.

Mourinho on Parrott

But given Spurs’ lack of depth in certain areas of their squad, partly due to injuries to the likes of Harry Kane, Mousa Sissoko and Harry Winks, Mourinho may decide to rest some stars this weekend.

With Kane absent, the onus has fallen on the likes of Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son to provide the goals for this Tottenham team.

But one man who could potentially feature in some capacity vs the Saints is Troy Parrott.

The 17-year-old centre-forward looks to have a bright future ahead of him, and has been particularly impressive in the UEFA Youth League this term.

Now, ahead of Saturday’s game, Mourinho was asked whether Parrott is ready for the FA Cup clash at Southampton.

And whilst Mourinho didn’t confirm Parrott would be involved, he did state that it is a possibility he is selected for Saturday’s fixture:

“He is ready to work with us every day like he is doing. He trains with the group, after training he has a special programme of individual development of his qualities as a striker and this club takes very good care of the players.

“That is the only thing I can say. If he has to play with us, he will. He will do his best, he will show his good qualities, he will show his fragilities because at this moment he is a 17-year-old kid with fragilities in his game.

“But in this moment I cannot tell you, it is possible he is selected for this game.” As quoted by
