Michael Carrick: Jose Mourinho managing Man United the ‘traditional way’

Carrick is pro Mourinho

Jose Mourinho may be under pressure at Man United, but Michael Carrick thinks he’s doing a good job.

Carrick noted that he thinks Mourinho is taking the history of the club seriously.

He also pointed to the fact Mourinho plays young United stars as a positive.

He said to Sky Sports“He does get the history,.

“For the manager to put him [Rashford] in and play him… and Scott [McTominay] last year… and give them games, big games as well.

“The manager has to take a lot of credit for that. That’s the constant challenge though isn’t it? That’s what everyone wants to see, that next one.

“They say it’s getting harder. But that’s a challenge for us as a club and for English football – you might not get tens and twenties, you might get five or six players – but it’s got to keep happening.”

Pogba and Jose

One of the biggest questions at the club has been over Mourinho getting the best out of his players – or the lack of that happening.

His relationship with Paul Pogba has been analysed extensively.

It seems Carrick thinks Mourinho is the right man for the job however.

When Pogba lost the captaincy, it was also reported that all the coaching staff agreed with Mourinho. That of course includes Carrick.

It remains to be seen how long Mourinho will keep his job for.

He has been linked with a possible return to Real Madrid and even linking up with Eden Hazard once again should he end up leaving Manchester United.
