Jose Mourinho may have some concerns over Manchester United’s recruitment this summer, stating he still thinks more players need to come in, and that he would like all his team – including the player he wants to bring in – ready during pre-season, it seems he is happy with one thing.
He is happy with Romelu Lukaku, claiming he fits in well, and is developing well with Paul Pogba and the other players – and could not be happier with him – something that fans will relish hearing after being slightly concerned when Mourinho asked for the player this summer after their rocky time at Chelsea.
Mourinho was speaking to MUTV and said: “[He is] a team player that holds the ball, waits for support and allows the team to leave pressure zones and to keep possession in the opposition half.
“People look to goals and chances but I have a different perspective.
“I couldn’t be happier with what he’s doing. I couldn’t be happier that we could sign him before the per-season because these ten days of work with his team-mates is fantastic for his understanding.”
Another player who has impressed is Marcus Rashford, who scored in the first pre-season game as well, where Lukaku did not, and is certainly making a an effort to show he won’t be pushed on the pecking order by anyone.
After being a key player for United last season, before and especially after the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mourinho has been convinced by Rashford in a way that he has not been by others, especially Anthony Martial, who’s future is up in the air ahead of the new season.
