Jose Mourinho ‘doesn’t care’: Why Paul Pogba missed Huddersfield vs Man United

Huddersfield Town vs Manchester United

When the Manchester United team sheet came out on Saturday night, there were several eyebrows raised.

The Red Devils took on Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The two team lined up as follows.

Huddersfield Town: Lossl, Kongolo, Billing, Van La Parra, Williams, Ince, Quaner, Mounie, Zanka, Schindler, Hadergjonaj

Subs: Coleman, Smith, Malone, Whitehead, Hogg, Sabiri, Depoitre

Manchester United: Romero, Young, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw, Matic, Carrick, McTominay, Mata, Sanchez, Lukaku

Subs: Pereira, Bailly, Darmian, Gomes, Hamilton, Lingard, Martial

Why Paul Pogba missed Huddersfield

The biggest name left out of the Man United squad was Paul Pogba.

And, after rumour sprouted up in the press last week that Pogba is regretting returning to Man United, did Jose Mourinho leave his record signing out?

No, according to the Special One.

Prior to kick off, Mourinho gave the following explanation for Pogba’s whereabouts:

This morning, I was told by the doctor. I don’t know if he’s out for a long time and honestly I don’t care because I focus on the game and just on the game. I will think about Paul after the match.

So Mourinho ‘doesn’t care about Pogba’ you say….

Of course, with Man United returning to Champions League action next week when they take on Sevilla, there were always likely to be changes in the Man United squad for the FA Cup.

However Man United fans may have been happily shocked to see Eric Bailly back on the bench for the Huddersfield game.

The hope is that Bailly will be in Man United’s XI for the UCL match in midweek.
