Premier League Gameweek 1
What an incredible weekend of Premier League football it has been to open up the 2017/2018 season.
The madness started on Friday night with Arsenal coming from behind to beat Leicester 4-3 in an absolute thriller.
Then came the early kick off on Saturday where a Philippe Coutinho-less Liverpool scored three goals but still only came away with a draw from Watford.
What could turn out as the shock result of the season came at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as Chelsea lost to Burnley and had two men sent off.
And, we didn’t even mention that Huddersfield are top of the league!
Chelsea first on Match of the Day!
Chelsea fans were probably hoping their side would be first on Match of the Day tonight. Surely not in these circumstances though.
Gary Lineker, on the video below, describes it as a “fabulous win for Burnley”.
Next up on Match of the Day is Crystal Palace’s shock 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield. Could Frank De Boer be in line for an early sacking again, just like at Inter Milan?
Lineker explains that Huddersfield have to be high on Match of the Day as they are now top of the league!
Third on Match of the Day is Liverpool
Watford 3 – Liverpool 3 is third, followed by Arsenal’s 4-3 win over Leicester.
Manchester City’s win over Brighton thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Lewis Dunk is fifth, before Wayne Rooney 1 – Stoke 0.
The final two games, are to no one’s surprise, West Brom’s 1-0 over Bournemouth and the goalless draw between Southampton and Swansea.
Match of the Day is on at 22.30 on Saturday night on BBC 1. Gary Lineker’s Facebook Live video is below.
