Morocco vs Côte d’Ivoire live streaming: Match preview

The two big hitters of Group D reconvene at Al Salam Stadium.

Morocco won this competition in 1976; Côte d’Ivoire were crowded African Champions in 1992 and 2015.

Both feel they have a great chance of going all the way once again.

However, both struggled to narrow wins on matchday one.

On Sunday, Morocco took on minnows Namibia but it turned out to be far tougher game than they could have imagined.

The Atlas Lions did go close early on when Nabil Dirar’s shot from a long way out forced a good save.

That was as close as they came in a very uneventful first period.

Early in the second half, Hakim Ziyech’s shot deflected and almost beat the goalkeeper who made a smart safe.

It looked as though Hervé Renard’s side were going to drop two points on opening night.

Until, in the very last minute, Ziyech’s free-kick deflected in off Itamunua Keimuine and Morocco stole the points.

They will certainly have to play better or they will get nothing from this one.

Although, Côte d’Ivoire weren’t exactly outstanding either in their opener.

Les Éléphants took on South Africa and, just like Morocco, they were expected to win.

Early on, Nicolas Pépé went so close with a free-kick which came back off the crossbar.

Not long after, Jonathan Kodjia was clean through, one-on-one, but his powerful effort was straight at the goalkeeper who made a reaction save.

Then, just after the hour, they scored a goal of real quality.

Ismaël Traoré played it down the line to Max-Alain Gradel who’s first-time cross picked out Kodija who made no mistake this time.

The game’s one real moment of quality lead to the game’s only goal.

It finished 1-0 but it could hardly have been more comfortable for Ibrahim Kamara’s team.

These two are both likely to progress from this group but this game will go a long way to showing if either of these sides can go all the way this year.
