Monaco vice-president takes surprising dig at Arsenal over defender pursuit

Arsenal chances take a knock

After the season AS Monaco have had, they can expect to be bombarded with transfer bids in the summer.

The heart of their exciting, attacking team is young and bursting with potential. While Kylian Mbappe is the jewel in the crown, he’s far from the only stellar talent in the squad. Clubs all over Europe will be preparing offers.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, their club’s chances of signing a Monaco star appear to have taken a knock.

Sidibe focus

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev insinuated that the Gunners were a small club when he spoke about interest in Djibril Sidibe. The Gunners were in for the full-back last summer before Monaco signed him from Lille.

The Sun quoted Vasilyev talking about interest from the biggest clubs in England: “That is part of life as a turn-over club. Some players come in and go out, that is part of our project. Djibril Sidibe preferred Monaco to Arsenal, now he is in the French national team, and he can join the top European clubs. He deserves it.”
