AS Monaco vice-president comments on Alexis Sanchez and Thomas Lemar

AS Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has commented on speculation surrounding both Alexis Sanchez and Thomas Lemar.

All summer-long, Lemar was linked with a move away, with Liverpool and Arsenal, the two sides most strongly linked.

Meanwhile, the Gunners also faced a battle to keep hold of their prized asset in Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

Vasilyev spoke about whether or not Monaco could bring the Chilean to the French principality.

Thomas Lemar

Unfortunately for Monaco fans, it seems very clear that the reigning Ligue 1 champions are resigned to losing their speedy-winger.

Liverpool and Arsenal are understood to have had multiple offers rejected for the Frenchman over the summer.

On deadline day, Arsenal are believed to have had a £92m bid turned down by Monaco.

The 21-year-old was sensational for Monaco last season, breaking into the French national team, with the strong interest from these Premier League giants coming as no surprise.

It is believed that Arsene Wenger’s side were willing to allow Alexis Sanchez to leave to Manchester City, should they be able to bring in Lemar.

They, of course, failed in their bid to sign Lemar and for now, Sanchez remains in North London.

Sanchez to Monaco

Unsurprisingly, AS Monaco’s vice-president was quick to rule out a move for the 28-year-old.

Vasilyev stated that the finances of the deal ruled them out of the running to sign Sanchez.

Sanchez, who failed to help Chile qualify for next year’s World Cup, is excepted to depart the Emirates with his contract expiring next summer.

For now, the most likely destination appears to be Manchester City.
