Monaco reportedly ready to cut asking price for Everton loanee Djibril Sidibe

A recent report from the French media suggests that AS Monaco are willing to lower their asking price for Djibril Sidibe, who is currently on loan at Everton.

Sidibe’s Everton stint

Everton secured the services of Sidibe on a season-long loan last summer.

The BBC claimed at the time that the Toffees had an option to purchase the full-back at the end of the loan, though they didn’t mention any specific fee.

Since making the move to Merseyside, the Frenchman has notched 24 appearances across all competitions, in which he has provided five assists.

The 27-year-old has been a regular feature under Carlo Ancelotti, who took the reins at Goodison Park back in December.

Sidibe has featured in every league game Ancelotti has taken charge of this term, lining out either as a right-back, or in a somewhat unnatural right-sided midfield role.

Monaco willing to lower Sidibe’s asking price

Given how often the 18-time capped international has featured under Ancelotti, one would imagine that there is a good chance the Italian tactician will want to retain Sidibe’s services for next season.

And if the aforementioned report from the French media is to be believed, then Everton may get Sidibe on the cheap.

As per Sport Witness, citing L’Equipe, Monaco are ready to cut their asking price for Sidibe, to ensure that he makes a permanent move to Merseyside this summer.

The report from Sport Witness adds that Sidibe’s Everton move originally included a €14m option to buy, which seems like a fairly reasonable fee anyway.

But with L’Equipe claiming that trimming down their bloated squad is among Monaco’s priorities as they look to ease the financial burden currently on the club, Everton could well find themselves landing the right-back for even less than that.
