Liverpool vs Newcastle
Saturday’s early Premier League action saw Liverpool host Newcastle.
The Reds headed into the tie in decent form, and with the knowledge that a win would, temporarily at least, see them climb into the top-four.
Given they are already out of the Champions League, a top-four finish is now the Merseysiders only way of securing CL football next term.
Newcastle, meanwhile, didn’t have too much to play for, with the Magpies likely only needing one win from their remaining six games to secure their Premier League status for another season.
Mo Salah makes Liverpool history
Liverpool started the clash brightly and were in front inside three minutes thanks to a brilliant Mohamed Salah goal.
The Egyptian gained control of the ball with a superb first touch before turning and smashing an effort goalward on the half volley:

As well as being a fantastic strike, Salah’s opener against the Magpies was also a historic one in the Liverpool history books.
Salah has now scored 20 goals in 32 league ties this season. And after netting 22 and 32 in the 2018/19 and 2017/18 Premier League campaigns, Salah has become the first Liverpool player to score at least 20 goals in three different Premier league campaigns:
