Arsenal 0 – Man City 2
Man City started the defence of their Premier League crown with a win on Sunday.
Facing a tricky test away at Arsenal, Pep Guardiola’s side won the match 2-0.
Man City, although well off their best, beat the Gunners fairly comfortably.
The result never looked in doubt once Raheem Sterling fired home the opener after just 14 minutes.
Bernardo Silva scored the crucial second for the Sky Blues in the 64th minute.
What went wrong for Arsenal?
Martin Keown has provided his analysis of Man City’s win at Arsenal in the Daily Mail on Monday.
Keown stopped short of hammering Unai Emery’s side in their first match of the season.
However the pundit did point out some of the errors in the Arsenal performance.
A former Gunners centre-half, Keown picked up on the impact of the full-backs in the game:
Where Manchester City won this game was on the flanks. Arsenal’s full backs did not get enough protection and the team must strike a better balance between defence and attack.
After a summer of optimism, this result brings a tinge of disappointment but change will take time.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan & Mesut Ozil
Two players singled out by Keown were Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil.
For the BBC pundit, neither player did enough against Man City:
There were too many Arsenal players standing and watching.
Xhaka needed the playmakers — Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil — to give him more options so they could get on the ball and feed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal Fan TV vs Mesut Ozil
When it came to the reaction of Gooners on Arsenal Fan TV, some also picked up on Ozil’s performance.
While the German was criticised, Granit Xhaka was also picked out for a disappointing showing.
