Mikel Arteta teases that the Arsenal mole may have left the club this January
The Arsenal leak
Just over a month ago, information was leaked from Arsenal Football Club regarding an internal altercation between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos. Reported via The Athletic’s David Ornstein, a fracas between the pair had taken place which had left Ceballos with a bloody injury.
When Ornstein tweeted out the story it was responded to by Arsenal midfielder Ceballos who quoted it by saying that it had been fabricated.

This sparked an investigation into who had been leaking information from the Arsenal training ground. When asked about the coming together between the pair, Arteta responded openly about details leaking from the club.
“I don’t like the fact that that incident comes out at all,” said Arteta.
“I will find out where it is coming from and if that is the case, that goes completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and the confidentiality that we need, and there will be consequences.”
Arteta: ‘No comment’
More than a month later and several players have now left Arsenal on loan and permanently with the deal for Mesut Ozil to join Fenerbahce close to completion. The German midfielder has been spotted in Turkey wearing Fenerbahce colours and scarves but the official deal is yet to occur and Arteta has explained why it has taken this long.
“The quarantine situation is making that final step the longest ever because they have a lot of restrictions. There are things that have to be done before announcing. I think everything seems to be going OK, but I cannot say definitely what is going to happen,” he said.

Ozil was exiled from the Arsenal first team and not included in any of the Premier League or Europa League squads which has ultimately led to a premature departure for the former German international.
Interestingly, Arteta was asked about the leak of information that occurred in the previous month and was very coy but did not dismiss one key factor.
When asked if he knew who the leak was he replied by saying, “I have an idea, yes.” He was then pressed on whether that had anything to do with why some players have left the squad this month and he simply responded by saying with a smile, “No comment.”

By not dismissing the claim it has now opened up the possibility that one of the players who have left or are leaving this January window could have been involved.
So far, William Saliba and Sead Kolasinac have left on loan to Nice and Schalke respectively. Sokratis has had his contract terminated but was given a very warm goodbye from the club. Which finally leaves the aforementioned Ozil who’s exit is still to be confirmed.
