Mikel Arteta provides Thomas Partey injury update following Arsenal’s win over Burnley

Burnley 0-Arsenal 1

Arsenal were in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners faced a trip to Burnley, looking to build on their 1-0 win over a struggling Norwich side last weekend.

A win for Arsenal did seem fairly likely given that the Clarets were yet to pick up a single win in the Premier League this seaosn before the weekend.

And, when all was said and done, it would indeed be the visitors who emerged with all three points at Turf Moor.

Martin Odegaard would open the scoring after 30 minutes and though Burnley had a number of chances throughout the game, Sean Dyche and co. were unable to find an equaliser, leaving them languishing down in 19th place in the English top-flight.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have now moved up to 13th place in the Premier League.

Thomas Partey injury update

On Saturday, Thomas Partey would be handed his first competitive start of the season after returning from an injury picked up in pre-season vs Chelsea.

Partey managed 75 minutes of action, but concern no doubt spread amongst the Arsenal fanbase when the midfielder looked to be in some discomfort and appeared to be asked to be subbed off:

Mikel Arteta has since provided an injury update on Partey, and did appear to ease concerns somewhat, stating that the Ghanian was cramping:

“He struggled at the end. He was cramping but that will come because he’s missed a long time. He needs some fitness back.”
