Champions Leicester begin their calendar year with a trip to Middlesbrough on Monday.
Claudio Ranieri’s side leapfrogged Monday’s opponents into 15th in the table with a 1-0 win over West Ham on New Year’s Eve. Islam Slimani scored his fifth league goal of the season.
Boro suffered a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford, courtesy of two late goals from the home side.
Grant Leadbitter had given Aitor Karanka’s team the lead in the 67th minute but the visitors couldn’t hold on to it, meaning a fourth defeat in five matches.
Leicester and Middlesbrough are separated by two points and one place in the table, making this one a six-pointer.
Leicester’s Robert Huth will face his former side. The German defender played for Middlesbrough from 2006 to 2009.
Middlesbrough striker David Nugent scored 59 goals during his time at Leicester, but has been limited to just 43 minutes of Premier League action so far this season.
There’s not much to report in the way of team news for either side.
Gaston Ramirez could come in for Stewart Downing for the home side.
Viktor Fischer remains out with a knee injury and is Karanka’s only injury concern.
Jamie Vardy will serve the third and final match of his suspension following his red card against Stoke.
Left-back Ben Chilwell made his debut on Saturday, starting ahead of Christian Fuchs. Fuchs is expected to return to the line-up at the Riverside.
