Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis provides Martin Braithwaite update

Braithwaite linked with move away

At the end of August one of Middlesbrough’s star players, Martin Braithwaite was linked with a move away from the Riverside.

Braithwaite was most heavily linked with a move to Spain whose transfer window did not shut till August 31st.

This created a lot of speculation about the forwards future.

As a result, Braithwaite did not start Boro’s last game vs Leeds despite him being Middlesbrough’s top scorer this season with three goals.

‘I’m delighted that Martin’s not left and now that he’s back in the squad’

However, Braithwaite did not move away this summer and will remain at Boro until at least January.

Tony Pulis has since spoken about Braithwaite and how he will feature for Boro for the rest of the season and it is good news for Middlesbrough fans.

“I’m delighted that Martin’s not left and now that he’s back in the squad,” Pulis said in his weekly media conference at Rockliffe Park.

“I’ve had a good chat with him and he’s promised to get his head down. And really give it a good go this year.

“All the speculation about him leaving, in the last season he went to Bordeaux and he had to come back fresh from that, has affected him.

“He was playing really well, he was exceptional. He looked in every game like he was going to score goals for us.

“We want him back in the team. What I want is footballers who want to be at this football club. It’s a great football club to come into every morning and work.

“Things will be done properly, and like I say he’s come in yesterday and had a good chat.

“Fingers crossed we can get him back involved and back in the team and back scoring goals because that’s what we want.”

Middlesbrough take on Norwich in their first game since the international break and Boro fans will be hoping to see Braithwaite feature in some capacity.
