Mick McCarthy quits Ipswich
After the Barnsley game, Mick McCarthy stunned Ipswich Town fans by revealing he’s left the club.
McCarthy was known to be on his way out of the club, however most believed he’d leave at the end of the season.
But with four matches left in the season, McCarthy announced in a three minute press conference that he’s with being Ipswich manager.
In a classic McCarthy statement, he told journalists:
I won’t have to listen to that again, that’s my last game – I’m out of here!
While the press were caught off-guard by the McCarthy announcement, the former Irish manager explained his decision further to the club’s website:
I said I would see the season out but it’s been a new experience and it’s not one I have been enjoying to be honest.
I have continued to do my job to the best of my ability but there is something missing and I’m not comfortable with that.
I have had a great time here and worked with some great people and to all those who have given me wonderful support over the last five and a half years – and there are many – I want to put on record my personal thanks.
McCarthy also spoke to the club’s in-house TV channel about his decision to leave the club.
