Mexico vs United States live streaming: Match preview

The ten times winner Mexico take on six times winner USA.

The two CONCACAF giants will meet in the final for the sixth time with Mexico winning four of the previous five.

Who will be celebrating this time at Soldier Field?

The results of both sides may look impressive but neither has really convinced in this tournament.

Mexico won all three group games, beating Cuba 7-0 and Canada 3-1 before being given a real scare by Martinique, but coming out 3-2 winners.

In the quarter-finals, they were taken to penalties by Costa Rica in Houston.

Guillermo Ochoa was the hero, saving two spot-kicks as El Tri got through. Just.

It was another tough test for Tata Martino’s men in the semi-finals as they took on the tournament’s surprise package, Haiti.

Despite almost constant Mexican pressure, the game was scoreless after 90 minutes and went into extra time.

However, just 71 seconds after the restart, Raúl Jiménez was brought down.

Penalty to Mexico!

Jiménez himself stepped up and cooly slotted home his fifth goal of the tournament.

Haiti did hit the cross-bar in the 119th minute but Mexico held on to make it back to the final.

USA too have faced challenges en route to this final.

The Stars and Stripes also won all three group games, beating Guyana 4-0, Trinidad & Tobago 6-0 and Panama 1-0.

That set up a quarter-final clash with Curaçao in which Weston McKennie’s header saw them scrape through 1-0.

On Wednesday in the semi-final, they took on a Jamaica side who were targeting their third final in row.

McKennie brook the deadlock once again, finishing smartly after just nine minutes.

In truth, America were dominant and they finally got a second seven minutes into the second half, Christian Pulisic tapping in after Jordan Morris’ shot was saved.

Jamaica did pull one back but Pulisic was on target again late on to seal a 3-1 victory in Nashville.

That set up the final all neutrals wanted to see.

This is a very exciting final match-up.

It’s going to be tense in Chicago.
