A huge issue for Barcelona

Barcelona are not in great form at the minute.

The La Liga side have let in five goals in three matches.

Now, with Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon, there are defensive worries.

Lionel Messi admitted as much as he spoke about his side’s form so far this season.

Messi made it clear the team are still confident, but that the defence has to be better.

“There is no anxiety. This is just the beginning of the season,” Standard Sport report Messi said.

“We only feel anger for the last two results. We did a good first half in Leganes and we lost. We create situations to win.

“We are aware that we have to be stronger in defence and not concede goals in all matches.”

Injuries and a loss of form

It’s not only injuries that are an issue for Barcelona.

The fact that Sergi Roberto will miss the game in the Champions League is far from ideal.

However, Barcelona have also seen serious questions asked over their defenders in recent games.

Gerard Pique has been poor this season, and many have questioned if his age is catching up with him.

Against Harry Kane and co, Barcelona will certainly be tested.

The Cules will want to win the game and put the group in their hands.

However, that won’t happen if they’re sloppy at the back.
