Memphis Depay to Liverpool, Sadio Mane to Real Madrid

Memphis Depay

Sadio Mane to Real Madrid

The Mirror on Sunday float a couple of questionable transfer rumours this weekend.

The starting point is the claim that Sadio Mane could leave Anfield to join Real Madrid.

Mane to Real Madrid rumours aren’t new. The Spanish press have been pushing this narrative in the wake of Zinedine Zidane’s return to Los Blancos.

According to the common reports, Zidane has previously been interested in signing Mane.

After a great year with the Reds scoring 17 Premier League goals, Mane is supposedly back on Real’s radar.

So what do the Sunday Mirror add to the story? Readers are told:

Memphis Depay on Liverpool’s radar as Real Madrid eye a move for Anfield favourite Sadio Mane.

Liverpool have no intention of selling the talismanic Mane to Madrid.

Memphis Depay to Liverpool

The thrust of the Mirror’s article is the claim that if Mane does leave Liverpool, the Reds will try to sign Memphis Depay.

Of course, the Dutch international used to play for Man United.

Reporter Simon Mullock claims that Liverpool are actually scouting Memphis:

Liverpool are watching Memphis Depay — four years after missing out on the Dutch winger when he joined Manchester United.

Depay, who is now rated at £50million, is looking to leave French club Lyon for another shot at one of Europe’s major leagues.

(Liverpool) are determined to have a replacement in the frame should Mane try to force the issue. They have been watching Depay regularly this season for club and country.

French daily L’Equipe are also reporting on the possibility of Liverpool signing Memphis Depay.

But should Liverpool fans be concerned about the Holland international?

Jose Mourinho recently had a subtle dig at Depay’s attitude during his time at Old Trafford.
