Memphis Depay: Lyon aren’t a top, top club
Memphis Depay has given a new interview to Helden Magazine.
Depay is currently in his second season with Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Following a difficult time at Manchester United, the Dutch international has rediscovered his form in France.
This season Memphis has chipped in with 12 assists and scored six goals in 22 appearances for Lyon.
However, speaking to Helden Magazine, Depay confirmed he has greater ambitions:
Lyon is a big club, but not one of the five best in Europe.
Chelsea & Man City
Memphis was happy to name six clubs he’d be pleased to play for.
The former Manchester United player picked Manchester City as one avenue. Chelsea were the other Premier League outfit named:
I want to go to a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.
I want to go to a city that suits me and a club that suits me, to a team that really wants to play football.
I always talk about Real Madrid, a royal club, white shirts with gold. But I’m focused right now on Lyon, and then we see where I end up.
For the record, 24-year-old Memphis is under contract at Lyon until 2021.
Memphis Depay & Man United
Memphis Depay joined Man United in 2015 from PSV.
The Red Devils paid 25 million pounds for the attacking midfielder.
Depay spent three seasons at Old Trafford. His return was just seven goals in 53 appearances for United.
Lyon bought Memphis for 16 million pounds as United suffered a loss to get him off their books.
