Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe reveals the plan was to stay at Monaco, but something changed

It all changed

Paris Saint Germain’s latest signing Kylian Mbappe has revealed that his initial plan in the summer was to remain a Monaco player until it all changed.

The Frenchman was talked about for the majority of last season after he broke onto the scene in Ligue 1.

Mbappe then began to tear up the Champions League which really boosted his popularity and put him in the limelight of the biggest clubs in the world.

Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona were all clubs credited with an interest in the forward.

Though, it was PSG who got their man much to the bemusement of everyone in football.

The French giants had already signed Neymar Jr from Barcelona in a deal worth €222million which stretched the financial fair play limits.

Then, the club went and signed Mbappe on loan with a deal worth around £166million to be sealed next summer.

Though, the plan was not to move to the club this summer according to the player himself.

That supposedly changed at one point during the summer with Mbappe crediting a mysterious event for deciding to move.

“When I finished the season on the title of champion, the optics was to stay in Monaco,” he explained.

“I had given my priority to Monaco. But there was an event.”

“I changed position and decided to join Paris.”

Mbappe has also revealed that he will soon release information on what actually happened.

Mbappe pens emotional letter

With it now clear that Mbappe intended to stay in his comfort zone, it makes his leaving letter even more interesting.

The Frenchmen goes into the fact that he knows quite a few fans do no accept of his decision and are angry.

The player alluded to the fact that he knew he would be hated and disliked but he will never stop loving the fans.
