Maurizio Sarri slated as Hudson-Odoi & Barkley shine for England

Montenegro vs England

England took on Montenegro on Monday evening in their second Euro 2020 qualifier.

Gareth Southgate’s side will have been full of confidence heading into the tie after beating Czech Republic 5-0 on Friday.

Montenegro, on the other hand, drew their first tie 1-1- vs Bulgaria.

As well as being without Marcus Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold, John Stones and several more, England had to bench both Jordan Henderson and Jadon Sancho due to injuries.

One a more positive note, Callum Hudson-Odoi was handed his first ever England start on Monday.

Hudson-Odoi & Barkley impress

England’s night did not get off to the best start though.

Marko Vesovic gave Montenegro the lead in the 18th minute with their first shot on target.

England would respond in the 30th minute as Michael Keane headed home from an excellent Ross Barkley cross.

Ross Barkley would be involved again less than 10 minutes later as he tapped in England’s second after Hudson-Odoi managed to work the ball into the box.

Barkley would then add his second of the night shortly into the second half. Harry Kane then made it 4-1 in the 71st minute before Raheem Sterling added a 5th in the 81st minute.

After both Hudson-Odoi and Barkley impressed vs Montenegro, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been getting a fair bit of stick on Twitter.

Sarri had not even given Hudson-Odoi a Premier League start yet he was on fine form starting for England in a competitive match.
