Maurizio Sarri provides N’Golo Kante injury update

How long will Kante be out for?

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has given an injury update on midfielder N’Golo Kante ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sarri’s Blues still have a lot to play for this season.

Not only are they fighting with Tottenham for a third-place finish in the Premier League, but they are also looking to secure a Europa League trophy.

After drawing 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the first-leg of their semi-final clash, Chelsea will hope their home advantage on Thursday can secure them a place in the final.

Though, they will have to do it without midfielder N’Golo Kante, after Maurizio Sarri provided an update on his fitness.

Not good news for Chelsea

The Frenchman picked up an injury during the 3-0 win over Watford on Sunday.

Following the game, Sarri provided a brief but worrying update on Kante’s injury.

Now, Sarri has updated fans further on the midfielder’s problem.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, Sarri explained Chelsea ‘will try to recover him in a couple of weeks’.

As a result, Kante could only play again this season if the Blues make the final of the Europa League.

“It is not very serious but we will try to recover him in a couple of weeks,” Sarri explained, as quoted by journalist Nizaar Kinsella on social media.

“He can only be fit for a final. I am not sure, but I can try.”

Could Sarri manage another Premier League club?

Sarri was also asked about his Chelsea future during his press duties.

The Italian boss claimed that he would like to remain at Chelsea beyond this season.

However, he also lightheartedly suggested that if he was sacked by Chelsea, he could look to continue his Premier League career with another club.

Kante absolves Chelsea boss Sarri of injury blame after Watford

After Chelsea’s victory over Watford on Sunday afternoon, Sarri raised the suggestion that he should have rested Kante versus the Hornets to avoid any fitness problems.

However, the Frenchman has since spoken out about his injury, and he isn’t pinning the blame on his boss.
