Having completed a spectacular hat-trick of foul throw-ins, Mauricio Pochettino has joked that Serge Aurier was ‘trying to get him sacked’.

The Ivorian full-back became the first player to ever commit three foul-throws in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Aurier in trouble

Aurier has had a tricky start to life since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, gaining a reputation for being incredibly reckless in defence.

The right-back came under fire from Spurs supporters for his involvement in their side’s win…

Crystal Palace 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

A 150th club goal and his 35th of the season salvaged his side’s top four hopes, as who other than Harry Kane handed Tottenham a 1-0 win over London rivals Crystal Palace.

Pochettino’s side required persistence in abundance on Sunday afternoon, as the Eagles stifled Spurs’ attack for 88 long minutes.

Like last year, Tottenham left it late at Selhurst Park to finally find the breakthrough as Wayne Hennessey was unable to keep out Kane’s looping header.

This was also the 24-year-old’s 24th London derby goal, a joint Premier League record with Didier Drogba, with Kane having achieved the feat in 30 fewer appearances.
