Mauricio Pochettino criticises Shaw
Luke Shaw should brace himself for cutting criticism from his former boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Tottenham manager coached Shaw when the defender was breaking into the first team at Southampton. Then marked out as a prodigy, Shaw would go on to sign for Manchester United.
However, things didn’t go according to plan.
A bad leg break in 2015-16 derailed Shaw’s career and the left-back has struggled to get a run of games in the United first team since, crossing Jose Mourinho during the Special One’s first season at the club.

Mourinho publically criticised Shaw for having a poor attitude and questioned his professionalism. Shaw was furious about the accusation and promptly posted social media videos of him training like Rocky.
Yet Pochettino’s comments only add to credibility to Mourinho’s damning criticism of Shaw.
Pochettino is the subject of a new Guillem Balague which is due to come out soon. Titled Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs, it charts the Argentine gaffer’s rise and features candid views from the man himself.
One thing he shares with readers is his biggest criticism of Shaw: “I felt his head was not in the right place [at Southampton] to make the sacrifices and decisions that are necessary at that age.”

Set to depart?
United fans fear for Shaw’s future at the club as he’s made just two appearances this season, both in the EFL Cup.
Louis van Gaal also expressed doubts about Shaw’s mentality during his first season with the club. Van Gaal sanctioned a move to make Shaw one of the most expensive teenagers of all time.
The season that followed was underwhelming.
