Could we soon see Matthijs de Ligt in the Premier League?
Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt has spoken out on his future, with both Barcelona and Manchester United linked with a move for the defender.
The Dutchman has been getting rave reviews over the past few months for his performances in the Champions League.
Captaining Ajax to the semi-finals, de Ligt scored two goals during the tournament and impressed regularly.
He didn’t cover himself in glory on Thursday night, though.
When the Netherlands faced off against England in the UEFA Nations League semi-final, de Ligt made a huge mistake, allowing Marcus Rashford to dispossess him before the defender gave away a penalty.
Thankfully for de Ligt, the Dutch defender made up for his mistake by scoring the equaliser with a towering header.
Following that game, de Ligt gave an update on his future amid reported interest from Manchester United and Barcelona.
“I haven’t made up my mind yet”
However, de Ligt admitted after the England game that while the Premier League is attractive, he’s not made a decision on his future yet.
“Obviously the Premier League is a great competition, but I haven’t made up my mind yet,” he explained to talkSPORT.
“I’m still looking at what to do.
“For me, the most important thing is to play. I think today showed what experience can do.
“Now I’m focusing on the next game against Portugal, that’s the most important thing.”
