Watford vs Leicester – 101 Great Goals prediction: Watford 1 – Leicester 2

Leicester to beat Watford 2-1 is 9/1 with Paddy Power

Watford are on an awful run, which started when Marco Silva was heavily linked with Everton. With games coming thick and fast, can The Hornets snap out of it?

Leicester will be full of confidence following a week where they lived with both Manchester City and Manchester United to the very end.

The hugely fortunate draw with Manchester United was a bonus point and massive confidence boost as Claude Puel continues to work his magic.

Watford vs Leicester: Who will win?

Watford are somewhat surprisingly 11/8 favourites to win against Leicester.

The Foxes can be backed at 15/8 with Paddy Power.

Riyad Mahrez is 13/5 to score anytime, which looks like attractive odds.

Watford vs Leicester: Premier League match preview

Watford were the surprise team in the Premier League during the early months of the season.

In recent games, they have developed into relegation contenders, since their form has been so bad.

Leicester have a five-point lead over Watford in the Premier League, and despite a patchy week, they will be confident of taking all three points at Vicarage Road.

Leicester’s counter attacking style looks perfect to cause havoc at Watford on Boxing Day.

What has happened to Watford?

In late November, Watford won back to back Premier League matches against West Ham and Newcastle, then they played their part in a 4-2 loss to Manchester United.

Since then, Watford have picked up one point from a possible 15 and have suffered three defeats on the bounce to relegation candidates. (Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Brighton.)

Some have attributed the loss of form to Everton’s approach for Marco Silva.

And, whilst this may have turned the head of Silva and his playing staff at Watford, the drop in form is more likely down to an injury and suspension crisis.

Saturday’s defeat to Brighton should be a concern with Watford struggling to match one of the most goal shy teams in the division.

Watford are again missing key men for the visit of Leicester.

Leicester’s tricky week

Leicester were also playing well at the end of November, with Claude Puel’s arrival signalling wins over Spurs and Burnley, who are above the Foxes in the Premier League.

Away wins at Newcastle and Southampton infused plenty of confidence into Leicester under Claude Puel, but they have just suffered an exhausting week.

A shock home defeat to Crystal Palace was followed by a penalty shoot-out loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

On Saturday, Leicester secured a 2-2 draw against Manchester United despite conceding  a hatful of chances.

Somehow Leicester stayed in the game and Harry Maguire equalised in the final seconds. That draw should give Puel’s side plenty of encouragement for the second half of the campaign.

Whilst Watford’s injury list remains lengthy, including Kiko Femenia, Miguel Britos, Younes Kaboul, Craig Cathcart and Nathaniel Chalobah.
