Swansea vs Sheffield Wednesday: FA Cup fifth round replay preview

Swansea City host Sheffield Wednesday of the Championship at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Hillsborough last weekend, forcing their FA Cup fifth round tie to a replay.

Swansea’s 10-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday as the Swans were thoroughly beaten 4-1 at Brighton. An own goal from Lewis Dunk handed Carlos Carvalhal’s side a late consolation.

Despite their solid form of late, the result leaves the Welsh side back inside the relegation zone. Premier League survival will undoubtedly be their main focus.

Sheffield Wednesday are 17th in the Championship and have lost both of their matches since the Swansea draw.

Wednesday twice took the lead in Saturday’s clash against Villa, but eventually lost the match 4-2. Sean Clare and Lucas Joao were on target for the home side.

Swansea were forced to a replay by Notts County in the previous round, following a 1-1 draw at Notts County.

The replay ended in an incredible 8-1 win for Swansea, with Tammy Abraham and Nathan Dyer both bagging braces.

Jos Luhukay’s Sheffield Wednesday side have already beaten Carlisle United and Reading in previous rounds.

Atdhe Nuhiu has been directly involved in four of Sheffield Wednesday’s goals in the competition so far.
