Newcastle vs Huddersfield: Premier League preview

Newcastle United host Huddersfield Town at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Due to a fixture postponement and the international break, Newcastle have not played since the 10th of March, when they beat Southampton 3-0 at home.

Chelsea loanee Kennedy netted a brace before Matt Ritchie completed the scoring. Newcastle now sit 13th in the table, and are unbeaten in their last six matches at home in all competitions.

Despite their recent form, Newcastle’s overall home record this season has been somewhat disappointing. Burnley are the only team to have scored fewer league goals at home than Rafa Benitez’s side.

Can Huddersfield pick up a result vs Newcastle?

Huddersfield’s away record is not much better. David Wagner’s men have won just three of their 13 matches on the road.

Huddersfield have scored just one goal in their last five matches in all competitions. Last time out, David Wagner’s men suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace. A win on Saturday for Huddersfield would see them move two points above their opponents.

Huddersfield beat Newcastle 1-0 in their opening home match of the league season in August. Aaron Mooy’s second half goal separated the two sides.
