101 Great Goals predicts: Chelsea 2-0 West Brom

Chelsea to beat West Brom 2-0 is 11/2 with Paddy Power.

Chelsea’s poor from has been very well documented in the media in recent weeks.

The Blues have lost their last two fixtures by three goal margins to Watford and Bournemouth and many Chelsea fans are calling for Antonio Conte to get the sack.

The Italian manager won the title with Chelsea less than 9 months ago but much has changed in that time period.

West Brom fans would do anything to be in the ‘mess’ that Chelsea have found themselves in. The Baggies are bottom of the league with 12 games to go.

Alan Pardew managed to mastermind a victory at Anfield in the FA Cup but he has had no such luck in the league and West Brom look certain to go down.

Surely Chelsea won’t drop any more points?

Chelsea vs West Brom Premier League preview

Chelsea have endured a terrible start to 2018. The Blues have won just one Premier League match this year whilst needing penalties to beat Norwich in the FA Cup.

Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup against Arsenal and the pressure is piling on Antonio Conte.

Roberto Di Matteo and Rafa Benitez were both sacked after defeats to West Brom and the former Juventus manager will be hoping that he won’t become the third Chelsea manager in the trend.

Another bad omen for the Italian is the fact that NONE of the last 5 Premier League winning managers have lasted in their job past the end of the upcoming season.

Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini, Jose Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri were all sacked before the end of the following season after they won the Premier League whilst Sir Alex Ferguson retired straight after winning the title in 2013.

Back in 2005, West Brom pulled off the great escape and became the first team in Premier League history to secure survival despite sitting bottom of the league on Christmas Day. They have pulled off miracles before and have the quality in their side to do the same again.

Who will Conte pick to face West Brom?

Despite a run of poor form, Conte hasn’t altered his team very much in recent weeks.

It is likely that Eden Hazard will play as a false 9 once again, much to the displeasure of many Chelsea fans.

Alvaro Morata is still struggling with an injury but it is still unlikely that we will see Olivier Giroud make his first Chelsea start since arriving from Arsenal.

Tiemoue Bakayoko saw red in Chelsea’s 4-1 loss at Vicarage Road on Monday evening and Cesc Fabregas is likely to replace the Frenchman in central midfield.

Andreas Christensen looks to be recovering well from his injury but Conte surely won’t start him this weekend.

Thibaut Courtois has been appalling in recent matches but it is extremely unlikely that Conte will revert to a second choice keeper when his job is on the line.

Marcos Alonso should return to the side after missing Chelsea’s defeat at Watford as a precautionary measure.

West Brom team news

Alan Pardew’s main January signing Daniel Sturridge made his first start for his new club during The Baggies’ 3-2 loss against Southampton last weekend.

The England international played for Chelsea for a number of years during the early stages of his career  before moving to Liverpool in 2013.

West Brom played fairly well against Southampton despite losing the match 3-2. If Pardew’s side manage to tighten up at the back, the have a chance of staying in the division and even beating Chelsea.
