Arsenal vs Everton predictions: Match preview & likely line-ups

101 Great Goals prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Everton

Arsenal to beat Everton 3-1 is 9/1 with Paddy Power

Arsenal return to Premier League action this weekend after their defeat away at relegation strugglers Swansea on Tuesday evening.

Everton were victorious against Leicester on Wednesday evening with ex-Arsenal man Theo Walcott scoring a brace.

The defeat at Swansea was Arsenal’s 6th away loss of the season but The Gunners have been a formidable force at the Emirates stadium this season.

If only home from counted, Arsenal would currently be third in the table, behind Manchester United on goal difference whilst Manchester City would top the table.

Everton have picked up just 8 points on their travels this term and Arsenal should prove to be too strong for them, especially with a new star striker in town.

Arsenal vs Everton Premier League preview

The January transfer window was quite simply remarkable and no team were involved in more transfer dealings than Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger let go of numerous first team players during the window, amongst them Francis Coquelin, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott.

Walcott will be the one to watch on Saturday afternoon as he returns to the Emirates for the first time since his move to Merseyside.

The 28 year old joined Arsenal aged 16 back in 2006 and spent twelve years at the club he will be facing at the weekend.

Walcott has two goals and an assist in his two matches as an Everton player so far and could prove to haunt the Gunners at the weekend.

Theo Walcott vs Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

However, Walcott’s return will be overshadowed by the Emirates debuts for new signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Mkhitaryan played 30 minutes of Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat in Wales on Tuesday night but is yet to feature for the Gunners in a home fixture.

Walcott’s departure left a vacant number 14 shirt in the changing room and Arsenal somehow managed to lure Gabon striker Aubameyang to the club from Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal could start with Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, Ozil and Lacazette against Everton, an attacking quartet as good as any in the world on paper.

One of Arsenal’s three away wins this season came at Goodison Park and most people will be expecting yet another Arsenal win.

Arsenal team news vs Everton

Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan are fit and ready to make their Emirates debuts which should make for an entertaining spectacle.

During their time at Borussia Dortmund together, the duo were involved in 161 goals in less than three seasons together (due to injury).

Mesut Ozil has signed a new contract at the club and he will be delighted to have Aubameyang in front of him, a player who is certain to finish the chances created by the German.

Jack Wilshere missed Arsenal’s trip to Wales through illness but he will be back for Saturday’s match.

Danny Welbeck will miss the match with a hip injury.

Other than Welbeck, the only other absentee is Santi Cazorla, who is unlikely to play for Arsenal at all this season.

Wenger has a tendency not to start his new signings in their first match for the club but Aubameyang surely won’t follow in that trend?

Theo Walcott

Everton team news vs Arsenal

Everton will be without James McCarthy and Leighton Baines for Saturday’s trip to North London.

Aside from the injured duo, no other players are out through suspension, injury or illness.

Cuco Martina will start at left back for the Toffees. The 28 year old has only scored one goal in English football, a stunner for Southampton against Arsenal.

Sam Allardyce is sure to go with a similar team to the side that beat Leicester on Wednesday evening.

Should Everton play in the same fashion as they did against the Foxes, Arsenal could be in for a shock.
