Mason Mount’s nickname amongst Chelsea squad revealed

The nickname given to Mason Mount by his Chelsea teammates has been revealed recently.

Mount impressing

Mount, of course, was thrust into the Chelsea first-team picture during 2019/20 when Frank Lampard took the reins.

Lampard had previously managed Mount whilst the pair were at Derby and trusted him to shine in the Premier League despite his limited experience.

This proved to be a wise decision as Mount had a solid breakout season with Chelsea and took his game to another level in 2020/21.

Even after Lampard was gone and Thomas Tuchel came in, Mount remained an integral part of Chelsea’s set-up. And, despite the Blues paying big money for Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, it is Mount who has impressed the most of all Chelsea’s attack-minded talents.

The midfielder would provide the goal-winning assist in the 2021 Champions League final for the Blues and would then play a key role in England reaching the Euro 2020 final:

Now, after becoming such an integral part of Chelsea’s squad over the last year or so, Mount looks set to be rewarded by the London outfit.

As per Goal, Chelsea are preparing for contract talks with Mount and are willing to make him one of their top earners following his starring 2020/21. Mount’s current deal with the club runs until 2024.

And, the same report from Goal would also reveal the nickname Chelsea players have given the 22-year-old, writing that:

Mount has been nicknamed ‘star boy’ by his fellow professionals who have seen his performances and work rate in close quarters.
