Mason Mount’s father takes to Twitter to laugh off claims Chelsea star ‘is not happy’ with Havertz arrival

The father of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has this evening moved to swiftly shut down suggestions that his son has been unsettled by the big-money arrival of Kai Havertz at the club.

Blues dominating the market

The big story at Stamford Bridge this week of course surrounded German starlet Havertz.

Just days after all of Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr put pen-to-paper on terms with Chelsea, the Blues’ staggering recruitment drive kicked up yet another notch.

On the back of months of rampant speculation, an agreement was struck with Bayer Leverkusen, to coax Havertz, one of world football’s most highly-regarded young talents, to southwest London.

The 21-year-old has committed his future to Chelsea for the next 5 seasons, in a deal worth a rumoured £70 million.

‘Bull’

Havertz’s arrival at Stamford Bridge of course follows those of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner this summer, as the attacking options set to be at the disposal of Frank Lampard in 2020/21 continue to stack up.

The competition for places for those already at the club is therefore inevitably set to increase, with a battle on the hands of the likes of Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount to secure regular game-time over the course of the season ahead.

Such competition will no doubt be welcomed by some, whereas others could view it as more of an inconvenience.

Speculation doing the rounds on social media earlier today, meanwhile, suggested that Mason Mount had fallen into the latter category.

As reported by German football expert Christian Falk, the English international was in fact ‘not happy’ with Havertz’s signing:

As outlined above, however, such claims have since been definitively shut down, by an individual with direct ties to Mount.

Taking to the comments section of Falk’s Tweet, Tony Mount, Mason’s father, simply replied with a host of laughing emojis, before labelling suggestions of unrest on the part of the Chelsea star ‘bullshit’:
