Leicester City vs Chelsea

This evening will see two of the Premier League’s top sides battle it out.

Leicester City will welcome Chelsea to the King Power, for what should be an entertaining affair.

The Foxes will head into the clash in fine form, having won three and drawn two of their last five league outings.

This run has seen Brendan Rodgers’ side climb up to 3rd in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of table-topping Manchester United.

As for Chelsea, they recently endured a dire run of form which saw them slip well off the pace of the top-four.

Frank Lampard’s side did get back to winning ways over the weekend with a 1-0 downing of relegation-battling Fulham.

However, they again looked less than convincing, with the Blues’ poor record in high-profile outings this season also worth taking note of.

In fact, Chelsea are yet to pick up a single league win against a ‘top six’ side this season – having lost to Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal, and drawn against Tottenham and Manchester United.

Mount praises Giroud

Ahead of the Leicester showdown, meanwhile, Mason Mount, as outlined above, has named the Chelsea star whom the club’s youngsters have learnt a lot from.

Frank Lampard has, of course, ushered in a new era at Stamford Bridge, with a number of young academy talents having been handed regular playing time under the Englishman.

All of Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Billy Gilmour and Fikayo Tomori (last season at least) have proven regular contributors under Lampard.

With such inexperienced talent coming through, though, it is of course key to have veterans in the mix, too. And Mount has revealed that one such experienced star, in the form of Olivier Giroud, has helped both he and other Blues starlets greatly:

“Obviously he has played at the top of the game for a long time and all of us younger boys have learnt a lot off him – speaking to a World Cup winner.”
