Man United 1-Astana 0
Manchester United kicked off their 2019/20 Europa League campaign on Thursday evening.
United would play host to Astana.
Despite the hosts being the much better side on paper, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side struggled to open the scoring.
Man United would eventually take the lead in the 73rd minute via Mason Greenwood.
The score would remain 1-0, with United now top of their group, after AZ Alkmaar and Partizan drew 2-2 in the remaining Group L game on Thursday.
“Mason Greenwood scored a stunning goal…”
“It almost reminded me of @Persie_Official chopping on that left foot!”
Owen Hargreaves saw shades of RVP about that goal from the latest academy graduate to come good for Man Utd 🇾🇪

Greenwood sets record
Greenwood’s start vs Astana on Thursday was just his ninth senior appearance for Man United across all competitions.
He also notched his first-ever goal for the Red Devils’ first-team.
As well as opening his account for Manchester United vs Astana, Greenwood also broke a club record.
At 17 years and 353 days old, Greenwood became United’s youngest ever goalscorer in Europe.
The record was previously held by Marcus Rashford.
