Marko Arnautovic: West Ham fans ‘hurt me’

Liverpool vs West Ham

Both Liverpool and West Ham should be fully recharged by the time they meet at Anfield this weekend.

After more than a week off, the Reds host the Hammers this Saturday in the Premier League.

When the sides met earlier in the season at the London Stadium, Liverpool ran out 4-1 victors. Mohamed Salah scored twice on that occasion.

Liverpool should come into the game full of confidence after a 5-0 Champions League win over Porto.

Marko Arnautovic on being ‘hurt’

This week West Ham’s record signing Marko Arnautovic has spoken to the club’s official website.

Arnautovic has missed a few matches this season for the Irons. At the start of the campaign Arnautovic was banned for three matches after he was sent off, while he’s recently been sidelined with injury.

Yet, in 17 Premier League matches, Arnautovic has scored seven goals and chipped in with three assists.

One suspects that Arnautovic is the frontrunner for West Ham’s player of the year award this season.

However the forward has now revealed that the start of his West Ham career wasn’t easy:

It hurt me in the beginning when I heard people whistling me in the stadium because they expected me to do better, but now I am playing for my team and playing for the fans because the fans are a big part of this Club.

They pay a lot of money the whole year to come and watch us and, of course, they want us to perform.

I always had a good relationship with the fans, wherever I have played. Of course, not all the fans can love you, because everyone has their own favourite.

Personally, I have always loved my fans and had a good relationship with them, because they give you the good feeling on the pitch and, without them, you are nobody in football.
