Marcos Rojo wanted to join Everton
The Premier League transfer window may be shut for new signings, but Man United could still be fairly active in the next few weeks.
Rojo, 29, failed to make the Man United squad in their season-opener against Chelsea last weekend.
And, according to the Times, Rojo is upset with Man United, after the club stopped him from joining Everton this summer:
United rejected a (proposal) from Everton last week because they said they wanted the defender’s move to be permanent.
Rojo was angry that the deal fell through and is determined to leave over the next two and a half weeks.
The Times now reveal that Fenerbahce are interested in signing the Argentine.
But will Man United allow Rojo to join the Turks on loan? That’s unknown.
Matteo Darmian & Juventus
Another defender who could soon be leaving Man United is Matteo Darmian.
29-year-old Darmian only has a year to run on his Man United contract.
In the Times on Thursday, readers are told:
United are hoping to offload Matteo Darmian, who is wanted by Inter and Juventus, before September 2.
Man United didn’t sign Bruno Fernandes because of his passing stats
Throughout the summer, Bruno Fernandes was linked with a switch to the Premier League.
Both Tottenham and Man United were heavily linked with the Portuguese international midfielder.
However, in the end, Bruno Fernandes has remained with Sporting.
According to reporter Paul Hirst, Man United opted against moving for Fernandes because they had doubts about his passing skills:
It can be revealed that United pulled the plug on their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes, the Sporting Lisbon midfielder, because of his poor passing statistics. Fernandes, 24, had a pass completion rate of 75 per cent last season.
While those stats may not be the best, it’s also worth noting that in 53 games last season, he scored 32 goals and assisted 17 for the Lions.
