Marcos Alonso speaks out over Rudiger’s Chelsea training ground bust-up

Marcos Alonso speaks out over Rudiger’s Chelsea training ground bust-up

Chelsea star Marcos Alonso has today provided his take on the training ground fallout between Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Blues bust-up

Ongoings in west London of course took centre stage in the English media on Sunday evening.

This came after word quickly spread online that two members of Thomas Tuchel’s squad had been involved in a heated bust-up.

24 hours on from Chelsea’s harrowing 5-2 defeat at the hands of West Brom, Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga needed separating in training, eventually resulting in the former being dismissed from the session.

Rudiger is said to have been responsible for a late challenge on his shot-stopper teammate, which left Kepa angered.

In turn, the pair exchanged words, along with some pushing and shoving, with Rudiger’s failure to calm down having left Tuchel with no choice but to send the German back inside early.

‘It’s nothing new…’

In turn, with news of the concerning scenes at Cobham having been accompanied by further suggestions of a post-West Brom falling out between Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James, murmurs have since inevitably begun to spread regarding the possibility of unrest in Chelsea’s squad.

One individual, however, very much of the opinion that all remains well amongst Thomas Tuchel’s ranks, is Marcos Alonso.

Speaking in an interview with beIN Sports on Monday, the Spanish stopper was asked for his take on yesterday’s training ground incident.

Alonso, though, was quick to assure that such comings together are not at all out of the ordinary, and simply showcase the ‘hunger’ within the Blues’ squad:

‘These are things that happen. It shows the level of competition there is in the team, the hunger.’

‘Even before training finished, it was all good.’

‘Nothing new, it has always happened. It will still happen, and the thing we need to take is the positive and move on and get ready for the next game.’
