Silva lays down the law
Everton boss Marco Silva has demanded that both Richarlison and Yerry Mina improve their English language skills to help them to adapt.
Both Richarlison and Mina joined the club last summer in big-money moves, linking up with Silva.
Richarlison had previously played under the Portuguese boss in England at Watford, but is still not really able to speak the language.
Meanwhile, Yerry Mina’s career has seen him play in Brazil and Spain so far, not allowing him much time to learn English.
Now, Marco Silva has urged the Everton duo to improve their language skills.
“We would like more from them”
Speaking ahead of Everton’s clash with Aston Villa on Friday night, Silva explained that he wants more from both Mina and Richarlison.
“Richarlison is not as good as I’d like but he’s trying every day. Mina also,” Silva explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“With Richarlison, Mina and Bernard, it’s a little bit better because they have had more time. But with Mina and Richarlison we would like more from them.
“Their levels are a little bit better but not like we would like. This is something we demand from them because this is one of the keys for them to adapt faster and to understand everything that’s happening around them every single day.”
Safe to say, their language barriers haven’t affected Everton’s form so far this season.
The Toffees are unbeaten and could go top of the Premier League if they beat Aston Villa in the Friday Night Football.
