Will Gueye leave Everton this summer?
Marco Silva has insisted that the signing of midfielder Fabian Delph has no effect on Idrissa Gueye’s future, amid links with Paris Saint-Germain.
Gueye was heavily-linked with a move to PSG back in the January transfer window.
After a very successful season at Everton, though, the Blues were seemingly unwilling to let him leave.
PSG were also seemingly not willing to pay enough, and Gueye stayed at Goodison, despite making his disappointment known.
Now, rumours have resurfaced, suggesting that PSG are back in for Gueye.
Marco Silva, though, has responded, amid fears that signing Fabian Delph meant that Gueye could soon leave.
“If it will happen then we have to replace him”
When asked about whether Delph’s signing had any effect on Gueye’s future, Silva insisted there was no correlation.
Though, he did admit that, should Gueye leave the club, Everton would need to replace him.
“They are two completely different players,” Silva insisted in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.
“Gana plays in one role, Fabian can do the role of Gana but he doesn’t come to our squad to replace Gana.
“Gana is still our player and, of course, if we lose Gana then we have to sign a player to replace him because you are talking about one player playing almost all of the games in our squad.
“If it will happen then we have to replace him, it is not because we have signed Fabian Delph.
“I have to talk with him and show him how he is an important player for us.”
Silva doesn’t exactly sound confident that Gueye will be at Everton beyond the transfer window, but Paris Saint-Germain will need to pay up if they want him.
