Marco Silva speaks about Everton’s summer transfer plans

Silva expecting to be backed

Marco Silva provided some insight into Everton’s summer transfer plans recently and it should please most Toffees fans.

Everton have been linked with a number of players already heading into the next transfer window, including Lille’s Boubakary Soumare.

Marco Silva’s side have also been heavily linked with a permanent move for Barcelona midfielder, Andre Gomes.

However, if Everton are to sign Gomes, Soumare and other players they are being linked with, the board must back Silva this summer.

Silva was asked if he thinks the club plan to support him in the transfer market this summer, he then stated:

“I think yes.

“The ambition you have as a football club, you have the funds to do that because we want to be better next season. When you want to be better next season, we are able to do that.

“It’s my ambition but more it is the ambition of the club, it is the ambition of the people that are behind me and support us at the football club.

“Ok, we have a big number of players with contracts with us and we have to look at this situation. If you can do something before we sign (players) it will be very good for us.” As quoted by the Telegraph.

Everton eyeing European football

While Silva appears to have the backing of the club this summer, having European football would help massively in their recruitment.

Everton are currently 9th in the league but they are just two points off 7th place.

7th place will become a Europa League place should Manchester City win the FA Cup.

Everton’s next game sees them travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
